When Tucson City Golf was looking for a partner to manage its food and beverage operations, it found an ideal partner in Tucson Food Service Group. The family-owned company has
been in business for more than 90 years, and today it operates four complimentary divisions; Tucson Fruit and Produce (wholesale produce and groceries), The 17th Street Farmers Market (retail grocery, organic produce and specialty foods store), Tucson Party Rentals (party supplies, rentals and event planning), and a large catering division serving a wide variety of business and private functions.
Shows are performed by Tucson's premiere jazz big band, “Tucson Swings!” featuring female vocalist and local jazz sensation, Julie Anne.
In June 2011, the company began managing Tucson City Golf’s concessions and food and beverage operations and continues to grow the catering business, special event and facility rentals at the City’s five golf courses (Randolph, Del Urich, El Rio, Silverbell, and Fred Enke). The company re-branded the Randolph Clubhouse, and created a new menu, which provides a wider selection of foods, snacks and beverages. The clubhouse is now called The El Con Club at Randolph.
Recently, Tucson Food Service and its Tucson Party Rentals division created a unique golf course wedding package called “Wedding on the Green,” which takes advantage of the open spaces, beautiful mountain vistas and amenities of the El Con Club facilities, which has a seating capacity for 250 guests. According to Tucson Food Service Group’s CEO, Tom Kusian, “Working with the City has been an ideal partnership for us, as we can provide a wide variety of foods, services and resources to help Tucson City Golf maximize the golfing experience. Their management team helped us learn some important nuances about what the golfer wants and expects from a food and beverage perspective. We are constantly striving to improve both our food offerings and the dining experience, as well as develop entertainment and recreational fun for our golfers and clubhouse guests. It’s all about exceeding expectations.”
As part of creating more entertainment offerings, Tucson Food Service has developed a Tuesday Happy Hour for Golfers, and a Big Band Music Series on Saturday evenings at the El Con Club, featuring the great music of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman and other jazz greats from the big band era. The shows are performed by Tucson's premiere jazz big band, “Tucson Swings!” featuring female vocalist and local jazz sensation, Julie Anne.
The first show will be held on Saturday, February 4th, with additional shows scheduled for Saturday, March 10th and Saturday, April 14th.
Cost for each show is $15 per person, general admission, or $25 per person, which includes admission, preferred seating and a delicious dinner buffet. Advance tickets are available at 17th Street Music. Call to reserve tickets: 624-1415, ext 7147.
